Il coraggio di costruire

De Gasperi Foundation asked us to design and build a touring exhibition on the figure of Alcide De Gasperi, founder of the Christian Democrats and father of the first European Union. The exhibition aims to introduce the history and ideals of the Trentino statesman to new generations, told by a working group composed of university students. The target of the exhibition are the classes of high school: the exhibit is enjoyed by groups of 20-30 people at a time, accompanied by a teacher who will introduce them to the subject. The ease in setting / dismantling was a key requirement in the design brief. We have imagined a system of 3 wooden self-standing “islands of knowledge” – each one composed by 4 modular units.

The islands are self-illuminated from the inside and a sound system (a mixtape of music and radio programs of the time managed by a raspberry) acts as the ideal boundary of the exhibition, emphasizing the historical context. Information makes up the structure, according to the metaphor of the bookcase. More detailed information is be available on the website / app of the exhibition. We have created various situations of interaction between visitors and content: there are parts of the exhibition that can be physically manipulated, items that you can take and put back in place and others that you can keep. There are 3 videos and 4 slideshows of to watch. The exhibition is actually touring in Italy, and we are taking care of the setting city by city.
